11,823 Special Buses to Tiruvannamalai for Chitra Pournami Festival

Ahead of the Chitra Pournami celebrations, the Tamil Nadu Transport Department has announced the operation of 11,823 special buses to Tiruvannamalai to manage the expected surge in pilgrims.

According to the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, these buses will be operated from tomorrow until May 2, in addition to regular services, to ensure smooth travel for devotees.

Special Bus Operations from Chennai

From Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus:

- 548 buses will operate on the first day
- 565 buses on May 1
- 35 buses on May 2

From Madhavaram Bus Terminus:

- 186 buses on the first day
- 174 buses on May 1

From Adyar Bus Depot:

- 55 buses on the first day
- 50 buses on May 1

Additional buses will also be operated from Koyambedu Omni Bus Stand.

Services from Other Cities

Special buses will also run from major cities including Madurai, Salem, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Bengaluru, ensuring statewide connectivity to Tiruvannamalai.

Passenger Ticket Booking

To avoid crowd congestion, passengers are advised to book tickets in advance via the official website TNSTC Official App or online portal. Adequate staff have been deployed at all major bus stands to monitor operations and assist travelers.

Special AC Bus Services

Additionally, 40 air-conditioned buses with seating and sleeper facilities will be operated from Kilambakkam to Tiruvannamalai on May 1 for passenger comfort.
