The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chennai, has forecast heavy rainfall in 9 districts of Tamil Nadu today (Sunday, January 25) due to an atmospheric circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
Districts Likely to Receive Heavy Rain
According to the IMD weather bulletin, heavy rain may occur at isolated places in the following districts:
- Chengalpattu
- Tiruvannamalai
- Salem
- Namakkal
- Kallakurichi
- Villupuram
- Cuddalore
- Thanjavur
- Ramanathapuram
Puducherry is also likely to receive heavy rainfall.
Weather Outlook for the Coming Days
January 26:
Light to moderate rain is likely at a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
January 27 to January 30:
Dry weather is expected to prevail over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

- Tamil Nadu coastal areas
- Gulf of Mannar
- Comorin Sea
January 26 to January 28:
Similar wind conditions are expected over the south Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, and Comorin Sea.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
