Postal employees have announced that they would go on an indefinite strike from 6th May insisting on their 12-point demands including protest against privatisation of postal services.
Expediting the implementation of the 7th wage revision committee’s recommendations, payment of interim relief till this is completed, and protest against attempts to privatisation of postal services are some of the demands in their 12-point demands.
Insisting immediate action on these demands Postal Employees all over India would be going on a nation-wide strike from Wednesday, 6th May.
All India Postal Employees’ unions have informed that almost all categories of the employees will join the strike.
Thus, there is the possible risk of postal services being disrupted throughout the country including Tamil Nadu. It is gathered that Post Office may not function on these days.
The unions have informed that with over 4.5 lakh employees in the postal department, this strike will be on a very large scale!
