Tamil Nadu has once again delivered an outstanding performance in the Class 10 CBSE exams, with a pass percentage of 99.92% this year - slightly higher than last year’s 99.86%. The results were announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education on Wednesday, with the overall national pass rate standing at 93.7%.

The Chennai region also showed improvement, moving up to third place in the country with a 99.58% pass rate. Exams were held between February 17 and March 11 across 360 centres in the State.

In total, over 1.1 lakh students from Tamil Nadu appeared for the exams, including 50,873 girls and 60,730 boys. Girls performed slightly better, recording a pass percentage of 99.96%, while boys followed closely at 99.90%. Many schools in Chennai proudly reported 100% results.

This year also marks a new change by CBSE, allowing students to take the Class 10 board exams twice a year. The idea is to give students a chance to improve their scores and reduce exam pressure. After facing a tough Mathematics paper, quite a few students are now thinking about taking the second attempt.

Teachers say the Maths exam had some tricky questions, especially in the five-mark section, which affected top scores. Because of this, many students who expected higher marks are considering rewriting the exam - even if it doesn’t impact their immediate admissions.

While some parents feel a second attempt may not be necessary, many students are still keen to give it another try to reach their personal goals.

Students interested in the second exam can register through their schools before April 20. The exam schedule will be announced soon. Results are available on official CBSE websites and through the DigiLocker app.
