9.55 AM | The much-awaited counting of votes for the 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu began at 8:00 AM today, following the single-phase polling held on April 23.
As per the standard procedure, the counting process started with postal ballots. This was then followed by the counting of votes recorded in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) across all constituencies.
According to the latest trends, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has taken a strong early lead in a significant number of constituencies. The current party-wise standings are:
TVK – 86 seats (Leading)
AIADMK – 49 seats (Leading)
DMK – 46 seats (Leading)
NTK – 0 seats
The counting process is still underway, and the final results are expected later in the day. Political analysts note that early trends may change as more rounds of counting are completed.
