Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday (June 16) inaugurated a two-day training programme for Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) by lighting the traditional kuthuvilakku at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai.

The training camp is being conducted for all MLAs elected to the 17th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Sessions will be held on June 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

During the programme, senior government officials and subject experts will guide legislators on Assembly procedures, rules, and parliamentary conduct. The training will cover important aspects such as how debates are conducted, the subjects that can and cannot be raised in the House, and the proper process for asking questions and participating in discussions.

All party members have been encouraged to take part in the sessions. Former ministers and senior legislators who wish to attend have also been invited. They will have an opportunity to share their experiences and insights with newly elected members.

Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar said that Legislative Assembly committees would be constituted after the conclusion of the first Assembly session.
