Commuters traveling on the suburban rail network in Chennai will face disruptions as Indian Railways has announced cancellations and partial curtailment of EMU and MEMU services in the Chennai Central–Arakkonam section. The changes will remain in effect till May 17 due to ongoing line and power block works at Arakkonam yard.

The maintenance blocks will be implemented daily in two slots: 12:45 AM to 2:15 AM and 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM, affecting both late-night and daytime train operations.

Several services between Tiruttani and Arakkonam have been fully cancelled during this period. Key trains such as Train 43552 (9:15 PM) and Train 43554 (11:10 PM) from Tiruttani to Arakkonam will not operate till May 16. In the return direction, early morning services including Train 43551 (4:00 AM) and Train 43553 (5:00 AM) from Arakkonam to Tiruttani are cancelled till May 17.

In addition to full cancellations, multiple suburban trains will be short-terminated or partially cancelled. The Moore Market Complex–Arakkonam EMU (11:00 AM) will not run between Tiruvalangadu and Arakkonam, while the Tiruttani–Moore Market Complex EMU (12:35 PM) will skip services between Tiruttani and Tiruvalangadu. A late-night MEMU service departing Moore Market Complex at 10:55 PM will also be curtailed before reaching Arakkonam.

Passengers are advised to check updated schedules before travel and make alternative arrangements if needed, as disruptions are expected to continue for over three weeks.
