Indian Railways New Rules From July 1: Higher Fines for Ticketless Travel and Women's Coach Violations

Indian Railways has announced new rules and higher penalties under the Jan Vishwas Act 2026, effective from July 1. Passengers travelling without a ticket will now face a fine of ₹500 in addition to the travel fare. Men found travelling in coaches reserved for women will be fined ₹2,500 and may be removed from the train immediately.

Passengers using tickets booked in another person`s name will face a ₹500 penalty, while unauthorized vendors and beggars at railway stations and on trains will be fined ₹2,000. Carrying prohibited explosives or hazardous materials on trains will attract a minimum fine of ₹10,000. The new regulations aim to improve passenger safety, discipline and security across the Indian Railways network.
