The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has issued a Government Order reducing the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) pass mark to 40% for differently abled candidates.

As per the earlier Government Order released in January, the minimum qualifying marks for TET were fixed at 60% (90 out of 150) for General category candidates, 50% (75 out of 150) for BC, BC-Muslim, MBC, DNC and differently abled candidates, and 40% (60 out of 150) for SC, SC-Arunthathiyar and ST candidates.

Following a recommendation from the State Commissioner for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, the government has now revised the qualifying mark for differently abled candidates to 40%, in line with states such as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The revised eligibility criteria will be applicable to the TET examination conducted in November last year as well as the recent TET notification released on the 13th of this month.

This move is expected to provide greater opportunities for differently abled candidates seeking teaching positions in Tamil Nadu government schools.
