Assembly Elections 2026: Court Holiday Announced in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

In view of the upcoming Assembly Elections 2026, holidays have been officially घोषित for courts in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The announcement was made by the Madras High Court to facilitate smooth conduct of elections and enable participation in voting.

As per the notification, all courts in Puducherry will remain closed on April 9, the day of polling in the Union Territory. Similarly, all courts across Tamil Nadu will observe a holiday on April 23, when polling will take place in the state.

The holiday applies to the Madras High Court, its Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, and all subordinate courts and tribunals across the state.
