As per the latest forecast, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Erode, Nilgiris, and Coimbatore districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall in isolated places on April 30. The weather department has also indicated that rainfall activity will continue into early May.

Reason Behind the Rainfall

According to the meteorological department, the rainfall is due to an atmospheric trough extending from central Madhya Pradesh to the Comorin region, passing through Vidarbha, interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and Tamil Nadu at around 0.9 km above sea level. This system is enhancing moisture levels and triggering rainfall across the state.
