The state of TN is now under total lock down from 10th of May to control Covid-19 infection pandemic that had spread to every nook and corner in TN. Just 2 days are left for the present lockdown to end. The people belonging to TN have been anxious to know what would happen next. That is whether the lockdown would be extended or not.
In this scenario, the CM of TN Mr. M.K. Stalin on Friday 21st May stated that a decision on extending the total lock down would be taken after a meeting of legislative patties committee and medical experts on Saturday.
The chief minister made his presence felt at the popular National Institute of Technology or NIT at Trichy yesterday and he spoke about how the Covid-19 cases have been coming down in some parts of TN. He explained that the movement of people from the neighbouring states of Kerala and Karnataka was responsible for the increase in the cases in Coimbatore. The situation is yet to be brought under control there.
The CM then mentioned that in Coimbatore industrialists, traders and the public wanted the lock down to be extended fully. The decision about lockdown extension would be taken in the meeting and then announcement would be made.
It must be noted that the chief minister was busy inaugurating a 250 bedded additional facility at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government hospital in Trichy. He also inaugurated a 100 bed facility at Kalaiarangam marriage hall and a 500bed Covid care centre at NIT Trichy.
