20 Additional Express EMU Trains Introduced Between Tambaram and Chennai Beach from Today
In a major relief for daily commuters, Southern Railway has announced the operation of 20 additional express EMU trains between Tambaram and Chennai Beach starting today (February 27).
The decision has been taken to reduce passenger congestion caused by temporary service cuts.
Key Stops for the Express EMU Trains
The newly introduced express suburban trains will halt at:
- Mambalam
- Guindy
- Egmore
These limited-stop services are expected to significantly reduce travel time for office-goers and regular passengers on the busy Tambaram–Beach corridor.
Reason for Introducing Additional Trains
Suburban train services were reduced due to ongoing maintenance and renovation works at Chennai Egmore Railway Station, particularly at Platforms 10 and 11.
To ease commuter inconvenience and manage peak-hour crowding, Southern Railway has now introduced these additional fast EMU services.
