No more long waits and traffic quests at the very busy Madhya Kailash Junction in south Chennai!!
One of the busiest traffic junctions in Chennai, Madhya Kailash junction is now grabbing the attention. The superb news that has come out now is that the Madhya Kailash junction would become signal free in a month of time. By this, the commuters would be saving an hour from long waiting at the signal. This would surely make the commuters feel happy.
The 650m long flyover construction between Sardar Patel Road and OMR is going on now and once this gets completed by the end of October month the traffic police would make the Madhya Kailash junction signal free by the month of November.
Every hour, atleast 11000 vehicles cross the important stretch in south Chennai. It is now said that vehicles from Guindy moving towards OMR would take the new flyover and those vehicles from Guindy to Adyar and vice-versa could move easily on the Sardar Patel Road. Point to be noted is that the OMR bound traffic from Adyar would take a free left. Those vehicles going from OMR to Adyar would take a free left on the Sardar Patel Road and would take a U turn before Cancer Institute junction.
According to traffic police sub-inspector Mr. Vijay at Madhya Kailash most vehicles to Thiruvanmiyur and interior parts of Adyar already take a right at ECR Link Road and go through Lattice Bridge Road. The vehicles that need to go to Sardar Patel Road would come to Madhya Kailash junction. He added that once the flyover gets ready the signal at the stretch won`t be required at all.
To enable signal less thoroughfare, the highways have left a wider span-gap at the junction. It was explained by Mr. Vignsh, highways Madhya Kailash assistant engineer that span-gap is 22m in Sardar Patel Road and in OMR and at the junction alone span-gap of 35m has been provided. By this, the vehicles would be able to move freely beneath the flyover.
The important piece of information is that nearly 90% of works have been finished and just 35m left to connect both sides at Madhya Kailash junction. Truth is that an additional 80m grid is remaining at Sardar Patel Road. To help the construction of the girder, the traffic police gave a diversion trial for deepavali festival. It is now brought out that the traffic police would prohibit vehicles from Guindy from taking right to OMR simultaneously when vehicles from Adyar take left turn as the final girder coming bang on the junction. Mr. Vignesh concluded that it would take about 6hours to place the girder and would complete the work by the end of October.
