The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) Limited has launched the Chennai Ula hop-on hop-off tourist bus service, offering residents and tourists an affordable way to explore the city’s heritage and landmarks.
The service was flagged off on January 14 by Tamil Nadu Transport Minister S. S. Sivasankar to promote tourism and showcase Chennai’s historical and cultural significance. Five buses have been introduced in the first phase.
Operating on a 30-km circular route, the service connects 16 major destinations, including Marina Beach, Government Museum, Egmore, Madras Lighthouse and the Kannagi Statue. Passengers can hop on and off at any stop using the same ticket.
An all-day ticket is priced at ₹50, allowing unlimited travel on all five buses. Tickets are available at major railway stations, Marina Beach, onboard buses, and via the Chennai One mobile application. The initiative aims to make city tourism affordable, accessible, and engaging.
