The Rotary Club of Madras East (RCME) in partnership with Rotary Club of San Antonio, Texas, USA donated critical operation theatre equipments as a part of its Global Grant Project to Public Health Centre, West Mambalam in the presence of the Health Secretary Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, IAS. This project also includes conducting 2 outreach programmes to women and children in the marginalised communities around the area.
The total estimate cost is US$ 60,000 approximately. The equipments include 2 Operation Theatre tables, 2 LED ceiling mounted operating lights, 1 high end anaesthesia machine, 2 high end patient monitors, defibrillator, Operating Head Light and some instruments.
Rtn. B.S Purshotham, President, RCME said �The club continues to execute many long sustaining service projects, some with longevity of 10 to 15 years, causing a significant impact on the lives of thousands in and around Chennai. Many old parts of the PHC, especially the operation theatres need to be modernized, with a view to offering more sophisticated services to its patients. This is the second Operation theatre complex undergoing renovation and caters mostly to general surgery, gynaecology, paediatric and orthopaedic surgeries. A team from RCME visited the Public Health Centre, empathizes with its ethos, and is keen on supporting its noble services to the surrounding community.�
