Rain Alert in Delta & South Coastal Tamil Nadu Till April 26 - Chennai Weather Update
The India Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall across delta and south coastal districts of Tamil Nadu from April 21 to April 26 due to prevailing atmospheric conditions.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre Chennai, an atmospheric trough extending from Telangana to the Comorin region via Rayalaseema and interior Tamil Nadu at an altitude of about 1.5 km is influencing the weather pattern.
Rain Forecast:
Light rain with thunder, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) is likely in:
- Western Ghats districts
- Delta districts
- South coastal Tamil Nadu
- Karaikal region
- From April 22 to April 26, light to moderate rainfall is expected in several areas
Temperature Update:
- Interior districts may witness temperatures up to 5°F above normal until April 24
- Coastal regions including Chennai, Puducherry, and Karaikal will see near-normal temperatures

In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky will remain partly cloudy.
- Maximum temperature: around 100°F (≈38°C)
- Minimum temperature: around 82°F (≈28°C)
This weather pattern indicates a mix of heat and scattered rainfall across Tamil Nadu, with coastal and delta regions expected to receive beneficial showers over the coming days.
