Nanban Movie Review...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
There is no point in drawing comparisons between the original version ‘3 Idiots’ and the official remake ‘ Nanban ’. The reason is that certain themes become universal and it savors to the tastes of universal audiences. And when it comes to ‘Love’, ‘Friendship’ and any social issue, it instantly gets into everyone’s senses.
The absence of Sujatha is felt very much as his dialogues were some of his best assets in Shankar’s movies and this time it’s quite missing as the writers have just translated the lines from original version except few witty-liners. What irk to a little extent is the caricatured characterizations replicated from the original one. Can’t Shankar try out something new at least with this aspect? Vijay imitating Aamir Khan’s mannerisms, Ileana trying to be Kareena Kapoor and what’s more annoying is Sathyaraj, whose imitation of Boman Hirani, especially his English slang is ridiculous. Sathyan is not an exception as well. But it’s Jiiva and Srikanth, who exhibit their own style of performance and win laurels. Ananya does justice to her role. However as the more drama occurs during second half, the intensity of characters deepens and it works hard to do justice to the script. Technically, the Movie has a beautiful picturing by Manoj Paramahamsa and grading of colors especially for the songs is captivating. Harris Jayaraj fails to work best in his background score while songs may not be so much enjoyed by Ilayathalapathy fans, but works to the best with Shankar’s grandiloquent factors. The best scenes of the Movie – 1. The suspense during intermission 2. Srikanth convincing his father, Jiiva at interview 3. Vijay and his friends curing Jiiva 4. Birth of Anuya’s baby 5. A surprising twist in climax On the whole, Nanban is a good entertainer with lots of commercial ingredients that comes with a strong message as a package – Don’t run behind success, Follow your heart, Discover your passion and develop your skills into it, Success will come behind you. Verdict: Don’t miss it R.Richard Magesh Courtesy : Kollywoodz.com
