Chennai received a brief spell of rain on Sunday due to the formation of an easterly wave. Data from the Regional Meteorological Department showed that Chennai airport received 26.6mm, whereas the city got a meagre 3.2mm.

The upper air cyclonic circulation over north Andaman Sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal now lies over southeast Bay of Bengal and neighborhood. Due to this, there will be rains.

The depression brewing over west-central Bay of Bengal is set to weaken and move north towards Bangladesh. Because of this there will be rains in one or two places of Southern districts of Tamil Nadu.

Low depression which was lay centered in the Bay of Bengal has moved away to another direction. Hence there could be rains in the next 24 hours in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu.
