The meteorological department informed that the next 2 days, the coastal regions of TN plus Chennai city would receive moderate to heavy rains. There would also be few thunderstorms also in these places.

Kerala rains likely for another 48 hours, no hazardous situation expected
The state of Kerala underwent a severe deluge for a long time which claimed several lives and caused massive damage to property as well. Heavy rains, flooding conditions and landslips had wreaked havoc over the state for long.

Despite normal rains in Tamil Nadu, several districts remain rain deficient
The state of Tamil Nadu does not receive much rainfall during the Southwest Monsoon season. The reason for very little rains over the state is as Tamil Nadu is a rain Shadow area and is also the least rainy pocket in Peninsular India.

Low-pressure zone formed - prospects of rain in Tamil Nadu
A low-pressure format has developed over the northwest part of Bay of Bengal. The Weather Bureau has informed that due to this low-pressure zone, there are prospects of widespread rains in Tamil Nadu.
