TN Schools to Reopen on October 5 After Quarterly Exam Vacation

Schools across Tamil Nadu will reopen on October 5, 2026, following the quarterly examination vacation, according to the School Education Department.

All government, government-aided and private schools in the state will remain closed from September 26 to October 4. Students and teachers are expected to return to school on October 5 after the vacation.

Second-Semester Textbooks for Classes 1 to 7

The School Education Department has instructed education officials to ensure that second-semester textbooks are distributed to students of Classes 1 to 7 on the day schools reopen.

Officials have been directed to make the necessary arrangements so that students receive their textbooks without delay and can begin the next academic term smoothly.

Class 1 Admissions on Vijayadashami

The department has also instructed officials to make arrangements for the admission of Class 1 students in government and government-aided schools on Vijayadashami.

Parents seeking admission for their children are expected to follow the instructions issued by the respective schools and education authorities.

The reopening schedule applies to government, government-aided and private schools across Tamil Nadu following the quarterly examination break.
