Chennai Dengue Cases Rise: Medical Camps to Be Held at 100 Locations Daily

A total of 1,293 people were diagnosed with dengue in Chennai in September 2026, according to Chennai Corporation Commissioner G.S. Sameeran.

He said that medical camps are being conducted to control the spread of dengue, and arrangements have now been made to conduct camps at 100 locations every day.

In September 2025, 605 dengue cases were recorded in Chennai. This increased to 1,293 cases in September 2026. More than 8,000 people suffered from fever during the month, though they recovered while staying at home.

Dengue cases were found to be higher in Wards 84 to 91, particularly in areas including Nungambakkam and Kodambakkam. Additional medical camps were conducted in these areas, and the situation has been brought under control. Dengue cases in the suburban areas are also being assessed.

Considering the number of people affected by fever, the Chennai Corporation had been conducting medical camps at 50 locations daily. Arrangements have now been made to increase this to 100 locations every day.

Medical camps are being conducted at the rate of one location for every two wards, and people can also receive treatment at these special camps.
