Heavy Rain in Three districts of Tamil Nadu today: Meteorological Centre

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in three districts of Tamil Nadu today, October 1.

According to the weather forecast, Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Erode are likely to receive heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.

The weather system is associated with a trough extending from South Interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar through Tamil Nadu. Due to its influence, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of western Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirupattur, Dindigul, Madurai and Virudhunagar may receive moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari districts are also likely to experience moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.

Light to moderate rain is possible at a few places across the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, as well as in Puducherry and Karaikal.

In Chennai, light rain is likely during the evening or night hours today, according to the forecast.
