CM Vijay to Host Banquet for Tamil Nadu Asian Games Medal Winners

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to host a banquet for the state’s athletes who won medals at the 2026 Asian Games, Sports Development Minister Aadhav Arjuna has said.

The 20th Asian Games began on September 19 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The 16-day sporting event saw around 11,000 athletes from 46 countries participating.

Competitions were held across 43 sports and 469 events. A total of 483 gold, 483 silver and 654 bronze medals were awarded to the winners. Around 350 records were also set during the Games.

India finished the competition in fourth place with 85 medals, comprising 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals.

The government has also announced prize money for athletes who won medals at the Asian Games.

In this context, Sports Development Minister Aadhav Arjuna said that Chief Minister Vijay would meet the Tamil Nadu athletes who won medals at the Asian Games soon. Arrangements are also being made to host a banquet for the medal-winning athletes.
