Idols on display for Vinayaka Chaturthi

Many stores have started preparing for Vinayaka Chaturthi well in advance. Vijaya Stores at North Mada Street have displayed an extensive collection of statues and umbrellas. The owner � A. S. Muthuvel says �We have a large variety of paper mache, plaster of paris and marble statues ranging from small one inch ones to 2 feet tall idols priced from Rs. 100 to Rs. 2500.� He also sells satin/velvet umbrellas and all the items necessary for the alankaram of the idol.
