Western Disturbance move from Mediterranean Sea to North India during winter. Its nothing but systems at 5 km levels above sea level.

A Western Disturbance is seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. An induced cyclonic circulation is persisting over Rajasthan and Haryana which has become less marked.

During the upcoming week, wintry conditions will strengthen over the plains of North India and foggy days will make an appearance. Most parts of Central, East and South India will remain dry.

Scattered snow is likely over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, while rain is likely over lower and mid regions of both the states.

From the past one week, dry weather remained prevalent over the city of Chennai. Prior to this episode, heavy rains were recorded over the region for a couple of days in the wake of Cyclone Ockhi.

Good improvement is seen in all 15 zones of Chennai. Tamil Nadu too most of the districts the levels have improved.

Out of the total capacity of 12714 mcft (12.7 tmc), the present storage of all 5 lakes comes to 6229 mcft (6.2 tmc). Last year it was just 1602 mcft (1.6 tmc). We have over 5 times the storage compared to last year.

The period between October to December is considered to be the cyclone season for Indian seas that include Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. This year, we did not see any cyclone during October and first half of November.
