The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the cyclone Gaja is set to cross the coast near Nagapattinam between 8.00 PM and 11.00 PM tonight (Thursday, 15th November).

Chennai was the first to get rains and as day goes on and as the cyclone moves closer towards the coast, we can see more rains in other districts.

The latest news is cyclone Gaja over Bay of Bengal is at about 470 km south-east from Chennai. On Thursday, 15th of November 2018, this cyclone Gaja would make landfall between Cuddalore and Pamban.

Chennai rains had seen a good end of October wherein the rainfall activity had even spilled over to November. Moreover, from October 28 to November 6 was the time when rainfall had occurred in the city of Chennai.

The cyclone Gaja is situated 490 km away from Chennai and 580 km from Nagapattinam. It has been drifting at a speed of 10 kmph over the last 6 hours.

Cyclone Gaja has become beautiful after nicely wrapping up clouds and has started the WSW dip. It will intensify further today & tomorrow and will weaken again to cross the coast between Pondy/Cuddalore and Nagai/Vedaranyam .

Tropical Cyclone Gaja moved in west/southwest direction and today at 08:30 hours, it was near latitude 13.0˚N and longitude 85.1˚E about 540 km east of Chennai and 640 northeast of Nagapattinam.

In the last few days we have been hearing news about the cyclone Gaja. On Tuesday morning, cyclone Gaja took U turn and headed northwest but again travelled west southwards.
