Adyar is one important locality in the south of Chennai that has
been sharing the experiences, from time immemorial, with that of the
city. Situated on river Adyar, the place represents an important centre
in the famous metropolitan city of India. Adyar region is furnished with
a commercial hub, river, forests and many attractions. The township,
separated from the northern areas by the river, is lined with the
popular Elliot's Beach on the east. Buckhingam Canal, originating from
the Adyar River runs through the Adyar mainlands. The place as such adds

Society, one of the celebrated places of Chennai, is grounded in the
locality of Adyar.
The western part of Adyar locality is the foremost commercial hub in the

Guindy Park, Governor's House M.G.R. Film City and the Indian Institute
Of Technology (I.I.T.) campus. The park reserves enriches the place with
bio diversity, very uncommon in the metropolitan cities. Besides these

like hospitals, banks and educational institutes. Some reputed
institutes as such include the Cancer Institute, TTK Research Institute,
Tamil Nadu Hospital, Institute of Hotel Management, St. Patricks Higher
Seconday School, St. Louis Institute of Deaf and Dumb, etc.
