August was the driest in the past 32 years
According to experts, Unlike the city, the southern and western pockets of the state received notable rainfall. If the city had not received its last leg of rainfall on Tuesday, August would be the driest in more than five decades.

Soon, online registrations of documents
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has said that a new software would soon be launched to let people prepare registration documents themselves and send it to the sub-registrars office concerned online.

No new Metro lines in more than a year
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited, or CRML, has not opened up new lines for more than a year ago, since the opening of the Koyambedu - Alandur line. Reason being, trains are ready but the lines are not.

Incentives for agriculture and farming announced in Assembly
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa announced on Wednesday that the State government will implement a new scheme to produce vegetables and fruits without residue of pesticides, by employing integrated pest management techniques.
