In Chennai, MGM Healthcare is a highly popular hospital and it is making superb news now.
Point is that this hospital has announced the setting up of MGM Institute of Liver Transplant and Hepato Pancreatico-Biliary or HPB Surgery at this hospital. In the past one month, as many as 4 liver transplants have been done here and the organs were received from the live donors.
It was pointed out by the director of the institute Mr. S. Thiagarajan that liver transplant was done for a 42 year old person under the CM Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. He threw light on this 42 year old patient who was admitted in a critical stage as he had acute and chronic liver failure plus food pipe bleeding. He appreciated the TN government for providing the necessary approvals inside just 24 hours for performing the liver transplant operation under the CM Health Insurance Scheme.
Liver is an important organ in the body and by the increased awareness about liver transplantation many lives could be saved every year. Issues like liver cirrhosis could be treated effectively. Later, senior consultant and associate director of the institute, Mr. Karthik Mathivanan expressed his views and spoke about how people in TN could be benefited under the CM Health insurance Scheme.
For those persons who are covered under this scheme, TN government provides Rs 22 lakhs for the liver transplant surgery plus lifelong aid for immunosuppressive drugs. Point is that this amount of Rs 22lakhs is the highest in India. Better diagnosing and management of all gastroenterology and liver problems and providing comprehensive care for all diseases and disorders affecting the digestive system would be possible by this new institute having world class infrastructure. This was according to Dr. Ravi, department of interventional gastroenterology and liver diseases, MGM Healthcare.
