Harrington Road to be laid with cement concrete

Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy on Monday inaugurated the project worth 9.93 crore for laying with cement concrete at Harrington Road in Chetpet.
He also launched projects to improve 10,000 interior roads. Some will be given concrete white topping and others will be laid with tar.The 1,200crore project will benefit many residential areas in the older limits of the corporation. Work on the 10,000 roads is expected to be completed in May.
In a corporation council meeting last year, the mayor had announced that 18,264 interior roads would be re-laid at an estimated 2,350 crore. While 8,146 roads will be re-laid under the megacity mission 1,2 and3, the rest (10,118 roads) will be covered by a special project. The city has 30,560 interior roads, of which 18,264 were found to be bad.
