66,00,000 saplings to be planted throughout Tamil Nadu: CM Inaugurates

As a measure to improve the tree density in the state, and improving the greenery in both forest and other areas, it has been planned to plant tree saplings in large quantities throughout Tamil Nadu.
Accordingly, the Chief Minister planted Banyan tree saplings in the Chennai Corporation Park at Rajaji Salai on 23rd February. CM also planted banyan tree saplings at the Swimming Pool area in Marina Beach. 6,000 saplings will be planted throughout Tamil Nadu.
This project has been welcomed by all. Forest Department will fund Rs. 49.18 Crores to to enable planting of 2,60,250 trees per ditrcit. CM inaugurated by planting banyan tree saplings at Tamil Nasd Police Department headquarters in Radhakrishnan Road.
Tree planting will start from February and end by December. Theplanting will be in School & college compounds, Office areas, parks, roadsides, and forests and will be nurtured. Trees with standing dry climate will be planted.
Senior officials participated in the inaugural functions.
