Building plan approvals turn stricter

Need your building plans approved? Then get ready to step into the regional office of the Chennai Corporation (north, central and south). Aiming at bringing transparency in the processes, the civic body here has set up exclusive offices to scrutinize the building plan approvals. These offices will act as the enforcement arm of the corporation, holding the authority to take immediate actions on building plan violations.
These wings will begin their function in a couple of days, and over 10,000 building plans received every year will be processed here, said the corporation officials. One of the officials pointed that bribes are being collected to push through the plan approvals. A centralized system will be set up to keep track of these bribes, he cautioned.
These town planning wings will be supervised by the regional deputy commissioner and it will be entirely headed by the superintending engineer.

Above will be the 2 different sections in the wing. About the approval procedures, three stages of inspections will be done on the building before sanctioning the approval, and reports will be submitted about the violations and deviations, if any.
