Metro Rail Train– 5km Test Run this Week

Posted on: 11/Feb/2014 3:58:55 PM

All is set ready for the event of a 5km test run of the metro rail train above the 100 feet road between Koyambedu and Ashok Pillar, sources from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) says.

Earlier, the metro rail train has been taken out for the trial from the Koyambedu depot to a ramp for the course of checking the basic functionalities.

However, the stretch remains partially due to the termination of the contract between CMRL and Consolidated Construction consortium Limited (CCCL). Since the existing contractors like L&T, some were being solicited to furnish the immediate work for the test run.

Installing cables, UPS and Air-Conditioners in the signaling rooms are under process. The initial deadline for the trial run to the line up of Koyambedu and St Thomas Mount was January.

Because of its many projects struck, Consortium faces financial losses. In order to help Consortium to come out of its financial mess, the government was directly paying the vendors.

CCCL was granted contracts of worth Rs.300 Crores to design and build stations at Koyambedu, Arumbakkam, Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar, Sidco, Alandur and St Thomas Mount along the slither corridor. Since the coaches worn for the metro rail train rush on pre-planned information, huge trial runs are desired.
