Tamil Nadu Health Minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar, who inaugurated the scheme and launched websites for medical colleges on Friday, said TN was the first state to take up e-governance in health sector so effectively.
The HMIS application has two parts � a health management system and a management information scheme. The health management system will include records on patient registration, diagnosis and hospital related services. �Each patient will be given a patient identification number (PIN). Doctors can source a patient�s medical history using the PIN,� said GH dean Dr V Kanagasabai.
Under the management information scheme, service records of about 35,000 people working in 95 medical institutions across the state will be digitised. �The software is ready. Once the systems are installed, the digitisation process will begin,� said the dean. The corporation advances loans for business ventures undertaken by Muslims, Christians, Buddhists and other minorities.
