State of the art firing range in Oonamancherry

A new state-of-art firing range has come up at the Tamil Nadu Police academy in Oonamancherry near Vandalur, about 25km from here.
While the older firing ranges have mostly fixed targets, the new range, to be opened for the All-India Police Commando Competition (AIPCC) on January 22, has targets that pop up and slide down, testing the skills of the shooter. The 94 lakh range has come up at the Tamil Nadu Police academy.
This is the first time a state police force has got such a unit. It is motorized and electronically controlled. Similar ranges are available with some paramilitary units.
