Government hospitals to be digitalized

Posted on: 17/Jan/2014 3:08:50 PM
As a part of the Health Management Information System (HMIS) which is funded by both the State government and World Bank, all the Government Hospitals in Tamil Nadu will be digitalized.

Officials said HMIS applications - with software solutions provided by TCS - mainly have two parts: Health Management System that encompasses patient services, including registration of a patient, diagnosis, disposables and other hospital related services; and the HMIS, which will have data on trends in diseases that would help in policy making to address the issues.

The project is already being implemented in primary health centres, secondary care hospitals and tertiary hospitals in phases.

Similarly the service records of about 35,000 people working in 95 medical institutions across the State, including 19 State-run medical colleges and their hospitals, are set to go digital. The process would cover everyone under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), including doctors, paramedics, hospital workers and others in government service.
