Corporation Turns up with Three forms of Speed Breakers
The Chennai city corporation depicted a new plan to standardize the road speed breakers on Wednesday. Depends on the traffic intensity of the road, three different modes of speed breakers are designed.
The speed
breakers are designed as per the standards of Indian Road Congress (IRC)
standards. Three models of speed breakers are for the vehicles moving at speeds
of 10kmph, 15kmph and 25 kmph.
The senior
officer states that, the speed breakers will be installed near the schools,
hospitals and several accident-prone junctions. The current speed breakers
which are not in IRC standards will be rebuilt soon, added by the officer.
A
committee comprising of superintendent engineer, traffic inspector, an NGO
representative will cram speed breakers on all bus route roads. Another
committee will monitor the illegal speed breakers in every zone.
The menace
of the poorly composed speed breakers has clout the government only after the
State Food and Cooperation Minister Sellur K Raja`s son died when his bike bang
a speed breaker on NSC Bose Road.
Rubber
speed breakers and badly built ones without the IRC standard will be supplanted
and these will be installed based on the amount of the traffic roads,"
said a senior corporation official.
