Chennai to get full- fledged Govt Multi-specialty Hospital by end of this month

An International medical conference will be held at the hall on the erstwhile Secretariat complex at the Omandurar Government Estate in Anna Salai that once housed the Legislative Assembly. Now this place has been converted into multi-specialty hospital. This Government Multi-Specialty Hospital will be fully functional by end of this month. 
 
The International conference with the participation of experts from various foreign countries was being planned at the 500-seater hall around the same time when the hospital will be opened to the public. The hall will be utilized for such medical conferences since then on. While the recruitment to posts of 83 doctors and 232 paramedics is on, the installation of state -of-the-art equipment would be complete by the end of January. An administrative office with 20 members is already functioning.
 
Both doctors and paramedics are being recruited on a contract basis and deputed from other government hospitals without affecting their existing work. The 400-bedded hospital will get 1,000 other workers for sanitation, security, electrical and civil maintenance, laundry and others through outsourcing.The process of signing a contract with a private agency was underway, officials said. A separate diet chart for patients based on their ailment was being planned and attenders would not be allowed to bring outside food. The kitchen work will be outsourced.
 
The water sumps too are being installed with purifiers for water treatment, while the dialysis unit will have a separate reverse osmosis plant. The hospital premises will be maintained with a set method to control rodents and to manage bio-medical wastes.  Hospital management information system was being set up, with a massive storage capacity of 60 terabytes specifically to store patient information, including investigations and the treatment given.
 
Other facilities would include two cath labs with diagnostic imaging equipment separately for the heart and brain, an emergency room near the entrance to the building, Wifi connectivity, mobile phone signal boosters, battery cars on every floor and in the compound and 150 surveillance cameras.  Modifications were made to suit the needs of the hospital, including 14 dedicated operation theatres, laboratories, CT scan and MRI scans.The premises will have two blocks—one, the hospital and thehe other a college with eight departments.
