Tamil Nadu State Government moves Supreme Court in the Cauvery issue

To establish its entitlement for a second crop, a system of irrigation used since 1974 the Tamil Nadu State Government moved the Supreme Court on Monday. Complaining that the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal failed to note this while giving its final award, the petition demanded 72tmcft of additional water every year for an additional 3.412 lakh acres. The petition contented that the tribunal, while apportioning the waters, reduced the double crop area in the Cauvery basin.
