Advanced Technologies in Banking Year

Many various technological interventions in the banking arena like e-banking (e-lobbies), allows people to bank without bankers and say goodbye to tedious task for cash deposits, passbook updation, cheque book request and deposits.

The Subhalakshmi Panse, CMD, Allahabad Bank says that, the invention of these advanced technologies is to bring in customer-friendly banking services among aggressive competition.

Over the next two years their plan is to escort about 500 e-lobbies and 200 cash deposit kiosks.The first self-services like  passbook printers, net-banking facilities and separate cash and cheque deposit kiosks has been introduced in Kolkata on January 1. These services will not only speed up banking services, it will also save operational costs for banks.

These services are travelling beyond the general ATM services and it consent the customers to transact as per their convenience, says TM Bhasin, chairman, Indian Bank.Various Indian major banks includes:  State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda and Central Bank of India are setting up similar cubicle services across the country.

The second advantage of these kinds of alternate services of e-lobbies, is that they allow banks to cut transaction time, reduce the workload of branches, thereby allowing them to focus on rural banking, Bhasin added.
