Colleges fail to adhere to CMDA norms

Despite the notices from the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), more than a hundred educational institutions are lethargic to enroll themselves under the regularization scheme. The state treasury is facing several crores of loss due to this issue.
Records state that the Chennai Metropolitan Area consists of 176 colleges out of which 65 are engineering colleges, 41 polytechnic, 46 arts and science & 24 teachers’ education colleges. Out of these colleges, only very few colleges follow the statutory approvals, whereas the others don’t.
