World Tamil Research Institute in Taramani Rs .4.17 crore building: CM Jatyalalithaa lays the foundation

The current World Tamil research building is over 40 years’ old. Tamil Nadu C M Jayalalithaa laid the foundation stone for the new centre to be built at the cost of Rs. 4.17 Crores.

The new administrative office building will have the facilties for conducting seminars, language training centres, study rooms, library, etc.The famous Tamil Classic, ‘Thirukkural’ has comprehensive details about all aspects of human life – character, management skills, and moral concept and recommends the way to lead life.

Jayalalithaa ordered a picture gallery depicting all the important aspects of life as described in ‘Thirukkural’ to be built in the new World Tamil Research Centre. Accordingly, an art gallery, at the cost of Rs. 10 Lakhs, housing 133 paintings has been built in the new centre representing each chapter of 10 verses in the classic. The centre also has rare books, videos, sculptures, photographs, and more than 1500 books on Thirukkural. This was also inaygyarted by the C. M.

The Chief Minister expected the new centre to serve the cause of sharing the knowledge on Tamil Literature and culture benefiting the Tamil–speaking Diaspora all over the world. Accordingly, a reception and information centre has been built for knowledge on Tamil Culture and literature at the cost of Rs. 10 Lakhs. This centre was also insaugurated by the C. M.Several ministers and senior officials participated.
