Cable TV operators ask for permission to use the street light poles

The corporation of Chennai informed that 141 cable operators have sought permission to use the existing street light poles.
Currently, several cable TV network operators have been using the street lamp posts without permission for laying their cables. The corporation had warned this to be illegal and informed the cables will be cut.
Now, several cable TV network operators have approached the corporation rquesting official permission to use these street lamp poles for their cables.The corporation officials confirmed that they have received 141 applications and they are being scrutinized. Permission has been sought for an approximate total cable length of 2,700 km.
Permission is expected to be issued in a week’s time and the identity cards will be issued. Monthly charges will be commenced.The cables which are laid without this permission will be cut.
