Coconut oil, Sesame Oil price Increase; Price descent for Palmolive and Sugar

Due to continuous increase in petrol and diesel rates and economic policies of Central government, the prices of essential commodities are getting increased. Last week one litre packet of ‘Nayam’ Sesame oil is getting sold at the rate of Rs.230. Currently the rate got increased to Rs.280. The rate is between Rs. 210 to Rs.250 in Kangeyam, Pollachi and Thirupur areas.

The rates per litre of Sesame oil ranges from Rs.70 to Rs.90. The 15 litre tin rates got increased from Rs.3600 to Rs.3800. The production of sesame in countries like Gujarat, Maratiyam, Aandra, Karnataka, Madya Pradesh and TamilNadu has got reduced presently. This states the reason for the price increase of sesame oil. Same way, the basin coconut production got reduced in Kangeyam, Pollachi and Kerala, and hence the rate got increased in coconut oil. Last week the ‘Nayam’ Coconut oil rates Rs.120 and presently the rate is Rs. 160. Ordinary coconut oil ranges Rs. 100 to Rs.140. The 15 kilo tin of coconut oil ranges from Rs.2000 to Rs.2200.

The rates are expected to rise more, stated by sellers. The import of Palmolive oil is getting reduced. One litre Palmolive oil rates Rs.65 and presently the rate is Rs.61.  Due to high import of sunflower oil, the rate of one litre sunflower oil Rs.90 got descent to Rs.85 for the case of first grade. For second grade, the rate got descent from Rs.85 to Rs.78. Due to increase in production of groundnut, the rate of one litre groundnut oils got reduced from Rs.110 to Rs.92.

The essential commodity association head, Mr.S.P.Svaroopan stated that, the production of garlic is high in Himachala Pradesh and Ooty in India. Since the production is low presently, Garlic is getting imported from China and the demand is high. The rate of one Kilo garlic is ranging from Rs.100 to Rs.130 and the ordinary garlic ranges from Rs.80 to Rs.90.

Since there is high production of sugarcane in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra and Karnataka States, one sack of Sugar rate got descent from Rs.3050 to Rs.2950 and the price of one kilo of sugar decreased from Rs.33 to Rs.31.
