16 Hours Operation to Separate the Conjoined Twin Babies – Started
A Tanzanian woman delivered a twin- boy babies 9 months before through C-section operation. Erikana and Elyuti named those babies back region is joined together. With their 5 months old conjoined twin babies, the Tanzanian mother arrived to Chennai Apollo Hospital during the month of June, 2013. He requested the doctors to separate their conjoined babies.
On a serious inspection of the babies, doctors found that, sections under the spinal cord are joined together and there is only single Rectum and Anus. Also, it was found that there is only one Urine passage and Male organ. Apollo hospital showed it’s helping hands to separate the twin babies. It was decided to start up the operation today (17-12-2013) and because of its complications, it was predicted that operation will go on for about 16 hours.
As per the discussion, the operation has been initiated today in “Apollo Specialty Hospital”. A doctor’s team under the leadership of Dr. Vengat Shreepathy and Dr. Roshmi Gopinath, have been conducting the operation today. It is expected that, the operation will continue till tomorrow morning 1 A.M. The arrangements to video telecast the operation to the pressman have been done. The operation will end up in success, one among the doctor’s team acknowledged.
