A new strategy by Chennai Corporation as election nears
Chennai Corporation has ordered that the committee of Deputy Commissioners should visit every street and note the grievances, problems, and complaints. Smaller problems should be rectified immediately. The 15 regions of Chennai have been divided into 3 divisions – North, Central, and South. Each division is headed by an IAS officer. A committee will be formed under the Division Head to check and address the grievances of every ward.
This committee will check the conditions
of the roads/streets, rainwater drainage, drinking water facility, sewage
system, street lighting, pavements, garbage removal, and the condition and
functioning of the local corporation office.. They will seek the public
opinions as well.
The list of complaints will be
compiled and attended for rectification. The officials have been instructed to
finish this before end February, 2014.
The budget shortly to be submitted
has some additional special plans. The above exercise has been undertaken to
arrive at the correct budget.
The repair works will be carried
out involving the ward councillors.
