Tamil Nadu is the first state to start a Bachelor of Audiology and Speech and Language Pathology (BASLP) course. The course in Tamil Nadu, started in 2010 at Madras Medical College, has an annual intake of 20 students.
This year, the Rehabilitation Council of India has permitted the enhancement of the annual intake of students from 20 to 25. There are also plans to start a postgraduate course in audiology and speech and language pathology next year.
