Posted on: 04/Dec/2013 5:52:44 PM
The claim put forward by CMDA to make the Rayapuram station into train terminal has been rejected by the Southern Railway, for the demolition of the building. The permit was rejected as this railway station is being known for its heritage.

In the railway budget 2012 – 2013, this railway station was ranked 4th and Tambaram, as 3rd terminal. However no steps were initiated for changing this railway station as the terminal. To change this station as the terminal, about 37 parliamentarians from Tamil Nadu has signed in the calls. This building is now listed under the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority for maintenance.
