Rains flood Chennai

Sunday morning witnessed heavy rains. Because of this shopping and street-businesses were affected. In Ashok Nagar, some roads were waterlogged. The pothole-ridden Dr Subbarayan Road, where water had accumulated, was one such road.
Three trees were uprooted due to strong winds causing traffic disruption. Two trees on 100 Feet Road, First Avenue, Ashok Nagar, and CTH Road in Ambattur fell down.Some streets in Jothi Nagar and Wimco Nagar in Thiruvotriyur witnessed waterlogging, while roads surrounding the Mint Clock Tower junction were difficult to use.
Negotiating through the road leading to Kasimedu fishing harbour was a tough task as the slushy road with potholes was filled with rainwater.The stretch from Sterling Road to Valluvar Kottam was flooded. The PWD had all its engineers on duty.
